In the agricultural industry, distinctive seed coloration helps to classify and distinguish between seed types and to avoid potentially dangerous misuse. The coloration of seeds treated with pesticides is even mandatory in most legislations. Thus, seed companies and seed coaters are increasingly looking for vibrant color options to optically differentiate their products.

We offer a dedicated range of powder pigments and pigment preparations (aqueous dispersions based on pigments) as well as selected dyes for seed coloration. Our colorants are available in the most relevant color indices and can be blended to create customized shades to suit your application. Combinations or pigments or pigment preparations can be used to generate a virtually indefinite number of possibilities. With the addition of white, black or pearlescent pigments, we can help you to fine-tune the appearance of the seed coating, offering additional branding opportunities

Our global seed coating colorants are exempted from the requirement of a tolerance under U.S. EPA 40 CFR §180.920 and are cleared to be used on crops for food use. They are also compliant with the European REACH Regulation.

Seed treatment colorants

Agrocer® is our brand for pigments and pigment preparations for seed coloration. The coloration of seeds treated with pesticides is mandatory in most legislations to avoid misuse. Besides this important safety feature, there are other key aspects to coloration – such as individual shades for branding, identification of specific treatments, easy monitoring of uniformity and consistency of seed treatments, or value perception and cosmetic appeal for high-value seeds.

Fertilizer colorant

Plants require many different nutrients for optimum growth. When the most essential of these nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, are hard to obtain from the soil, they can be supplied by fertilizers which help the plants generate the new cells that are necessary for growth. Our Agrocer® range provides pigments, pigment preparations, and dyes to color fertilizers helping to differentiate qualities and applications.

Powder pigments for seed coloration

Agrocer powder pigments are easily dispersible, exhibit a high color strength and show good hiding power to achieve excellent coverage on various types of seeds. The brand names of the Agrocer products include the color and a three-digit figure based on the associated color index.

Agrocer powder pigments are the preferred solution for seed treatment pesticide formulations that require high pigment loading and where no additional water can be introduced into the formulation. In order to utilize the full potential of these products, the pigments need to be dispersed properly using appropriate equipment.

PIGMENT PREPARATIONS FOR SEED COLORATION

Agrocer® Disp. pigment preparations are aqueous dispersions based on Agrocer pigments. Compared to powder pigments, Agrocer pigment preparations offer fast and more cost-efficient production to agrochemical, seed and seed treatment companies looking for safe, regulatory compliant solutions for eye-catching, high-value products. All Agrocer® Disp. pigment preparations show excellent compatibility with seed treatment pesticide formulations as well as seed coating products. The preparations utilize wetting and dispersing agents as well as other additives, which are commonly used in seed treatment pesticide formulations.

Advantages of Agrocer® Disp. at a glance:

  • No dust, offering a cleaner production environment
  • No milling equipment necessary
  • Higher flexibility and production efficiency, faster changeover times
  • Reduced cleaning efforts
  • Easy handling by simple dosing (readily pumpable)
